King Seiko 44KS 25 Jewels 44-9990
Introduction:
Introduced in 1964, 44-9990 was the second King Seiko model. The 18000bph manual movement Cal.44A was slightly modified from the first King Seiko's movement, and the hacking function was the major change. As for the case, the lugs were enlarged and widened, thus the watch looks bigger on the wrist without making a substantially giant case. It also has a crosshatch-textured hour marker at 12 o'clock, which can only be found in this particular model. In 2020, 44-9990 was picked by Seiko to celebrate its 140th Anniversary and reissued with modern watch making technologies. According to the engravings on the case back, the watch was gifted to Shunkichi Takeuchi, the Governor of Aomori Prefecture from 1963 to 1979.
