Seiko 1st Diver 62MAS 6217-8001
Introduction:
In the mid-1960s, outdoor activities such as swimming, surfing and diving started to become popular in Japan. As a response to the market, Seiko introduced its first professional diver watch in 1965. It was also the first Seiko watch featuring an outer rotatable bezel as well as a water proof level of 150m. The automatic movement Cal.6217A is robust, efficient and still performs well nowadays. It has a quick-set date, meaning that the date can be advanced by simply turning the crown. This was relatively remarkable as many competitors like Rolex did not have this function for their diver watches at that time. In 2017, Seiko reissued 62MAS as a limited edition model and it was sold out in the blink of an eye.
