Seiko Lord Marvel First Model SD Dial
Introduction:
Lord Marvel had always been the pioneer of Seiko's watch making technologies. The first Lord Marvel was introduced in 1958, and it was the predecessor of the first Grand Seiko Cal. 3180 which was introduced 2 years later. It was also the first Seiko watch manufactured up to the certified chronometer standard, setting the path for Grand Seiko to follow for the next 61 years. The dial used by the first Lord Marvel here is called SD dial (Special Dial). It means that the hands and the indexes are made of 14K white gold. The carved logo on the dial can only be found in very early productions, as Seiko decided to switch to stamped logo afterwards. The stainless steel case is also very rare and difficult to find among the first Lord Marvels, as many of them come with a gold-filled case instead.
