Seiko Seikomatic 6216-9000 Pre-62GS
Introduction:
Introduced in the mid-1960s, Seikomatic was a sub-brand featuring automatic movements. By placing the watch crown at a lower right position, Seiko tried to make a point that winding manually was no longer necessary. Moreover, both date and day displays were added to the dial for routine uses. On the other side of the watch, a rare emblem of a dolphin with a crown can be seen. That indicates its superior water resistance, which used to be a main feature in the mid-1960s. This model here (6216-9000) was frequently referred by collectors as "Pre-62GS", as 62GS was heavily derived from its design. The two movements are almost identical, but the one used in 62GS was adjusted to GS standards.
