Grand Seiko 61GS Special 36000 Hi-Beat Sand Dial
61GS Special was the upgraded version of 61GS. 61GS VFA (Very Fine Adjusted) was introduced in 1970, but the price was unreachable to many customers. As a result, 61GS Special was released as a relatively affordable choice between 61GS and 61GS VFA. 61GS Special was superior to 61GS in many ways. For example, the movement was upgraded to Cal.6156A which had a higher accuracy rating. In addition, the date could be switched between Japanese Kanji and English by turning the crown. This 61GS Special here has a very rare sand texture dial, adding complexity to the simple but elegant design. The dial was also said to be the origin of the modern Grand Seiko "Snowflake".
