Grand Seiko SBGR001 9S55-0010
Introduction:
SBGR001 was introduced in 1998. It was the first mechanical GS produced since Seiko decided to discontinue mechanical GS in 1976. SBGR001 was designed in line with Grand Seiko's traditional philosophy and innovating technologies. It was the first GS with Cal.9S55, a top quality automatic movement assembled by elite watch makers at Studio Shizukuishi. The movement set a new accuracy standard of +5/-3 seconds per day. As for the case, markers and hands, Zaratsu polishing was used to create perfect surfaces that can reflect light from different angles gorgeously. In 2010, SBGR001 was discontinued and upgraded to SBGR051, but many collectors still prefer the former for a slimmer case and a classic case back with the famous GS lion.
