King Seiko 44KS Self Dater Gold
Introduction:
4402-8000 was the first King Seiko with a date function. Produced from 1965 to 1968, it was also called Self Dater. The date can be changed manually via quick-set function. The movement 4402A was generally similar to caliber 4420B used by the famous 44GS, but with a date function added. The 44 series movements are known to be the best low beat manual movements produced by Seiko. They are robust, accurate and can perform well even after 50 years. This watch case is gold plated, which was marketed by Seiko as a premium option and was thus priced a bit higher than the usual stainless steel version. The case back has a rare KS shield medal, a significant feature limited to King Seiko watches produced before 1966.
